Then Sam, Met Bucky's gaze he knew. He saw me standing there, saw that I wasn't coming to his rescue, that he had been betrayed (Magoon 67). Sam was always to scared of getting in trouble and getting hurt by the police. He knew that if his father would be picking him up from jail he'd be in so much trouble.

Suddenly the heat in Sam rose up, and held me. It pressed close to me, pushed its way inside. I surrendered to the wave, to the fire. I picked up a brick from the sidewalk and flung it through the store window (Magoon 97). Sam couldn't hold in his anger anymore that he had bottled up for so long. He just let it all go and he couldn't control his anger.

After seeing his parents fight he just thought, If it always felt this way to break rules and get caught, I was better off being good (Magoon 136). Sam realized that he might just be better off not getting in trouble because he didn't want to see his parents like this.
Sam then swiftly, Lifted the gun from the pavement, stood up, and pointed it at the man choking Stick (Magoon 188).
Sam thought of what he could do, Leaping forward, lunging at the cop. My fingers crawled for his throat, our hands grappling together for control, our bodies straining to learn who would live and who would die. The urge was so alive within me that I had no idea what force was keeping me still (Magoon 246).
