- I hope they feel better!
- I'll explain further using an example. A contemporary issue that has affected all humanity is the coronavirus. Coronavirus are a large family of viruses that cause respiratory infections. This proves that COVID is not only bad for the world, but it is going against God's Plan for Creation. We have hope for Coronavirus to stop. But how do we fulfil this?
- *Cough*
- Well, the good thing is, most people are supporting the Christian values by following the safety protocols which keeps everyone safe.
- Yes, like socially distancing with each other and wearing masks so we have we have a lesser chance of getting infected!
- 1.5 meters apart!
- However, due to this pandemic, it is also common for people to be in distress. During the early stages of the pandemic, we can see that humans respond to this threat by panic buying.
- It means that a person may buy more than what they actually need to cope with stress!
- Panic buying?
- Ohh, I see!
- Toilet Paper: Due to high demands, this item is currently out of stock.
- No more toilet paper? What am I gonna do?
- ...
- Do you see those people over there? One of them was once infected with coronavirus. During times of uncertainty, that person still had hope and prayed that they will get better. Now they are healthier than ever and can see their friends/family again.
- You're right! Hope gave that person a positive outlook on the situation which decreased the stress that they were going through, even during tough times.
- 'The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.' (Isaiah 9:2)
- Hey, we're back to where we came from!
- Yes, let's review what we've learned! Christians have hope for the fulfilment of an imperfect world. We've discussed how hope is wanting something to happen, and how this links to the Christian Tradition through God's Plan for Creation. And how God's Plan is responding to needs.
- The issue we discussed about was COVID, and how it is going against God's Plan for Creation. At first, people responded to this issue by buying more than what they needed. But later on, new safety protocols were put in place to prevent more people from getting infected.
