- (Encoding Begins)"Merely a week left before my solo stage performance and I've barely started practicing for it. I'm so screwed..."

- (Encoding in Action)As he is practicing, his brain is actively connecting the notes to a specific muscle movement in his fingers.
- Glida: 3
- (Storage)The music notes are compressed in an area in the back of his brain (cerebellum) where it is stored from short-term to long-term memory usage. This ensures that even if the notes aren't on his mind at the moment, they will be useful when brought up again later on.

- (ONE DAY BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE)*He arrives at school*

- (Forget)"I have so much to do when I get home. I have homework, need to take out the trash, feed the cat, and... huh, I feel like I'm forgetting something else but I can't quite figure it out."
- Glida: 6
- "WHAT!? OMG I TOTALLY FORGOT... I haven't been practicing lately at all! I've had so much other things going on in my life this week. Oh, it's so over for me."

- (Retrieval in Action)A "circuit" lights up in the pianist's brain as soon as he touches the piano, where a spark travels through his nerves, and into his finger tips.
- Glida: 9
- (Using the Memory)The pianist plays a powerful run of notes, looking at the audience the entire time and not the music sheet. The memory has now become a muscle reflex, allowing him to play flawlessly without deliberate thought.

- "Sooo... you think you ready for your performance? I'm so excited to watch you in a couple hours."
- (DAY OF THE PERFORMANCE)
- (ONE DAY LATER...)
- (Retrieval Trigger)"I'm so nervous right now... I don't think I've even practiced enough for this performance," he says as he places his fingers on the "staring position" of the keys.
