- The French and Indians fought against the English for 7 years in the French and Indian war. The British won the war

- The colonists set up a continental army with George Washignton in Charge
- The Treaty of Paris
- The American Army beat the British in the battle of Saratoga, which convinced the French to join the Americans and fight their old rival, Britain

- This was the last major battle of the American Revolution. The British army surrendered to George Washighnton on Oct. 19, 1781.
- American, French, and Britain Diplomats signed the treaty of Paris ending the war. Britain recognized the independence of The United States of America
