- Michael is a 12 year old boy that came to New York City with only his 17 year old brother from Cuba. He is faced with many problems throughout his childhood that he has to overcome. He plays Little League baseball but he throws a lot harder than most 12 year olds so there are people that are speculating his real age.
- When suspicions grow the commissioner of Little League, Mr. Gibbs, was forced to suspend Michael from playing until there was proof of his actual age with a birth certificate. There was a problem though because his birth certificate is in Cuba and there is no way for him to get it.
- Michael meets a girl that he likes but he doesn't know who she is. He learns that she is his favorite pitcher's daughter, so he goes to a game early to meet his favorite pitcher and give him a note to give to his daughter.
- Michael's Little League team is still doing good without Michael, but they are all disappointed because they know they can't make it to Williamsport if they don't have Michael. They have won all of their games so far but they are about to play the best team yet and they still don't have Michael.
- Michael's team is losing by 6 runs late in the game and it doesn't look good at all for them. Michael is very down on himself because he feels like it is his fault and he has lost it for them. Then his favorite pitcher randomly shows up and stops the game to show all of the umpires something.
- His favorite pitcher ends up bringing him his birth certificate which allows Michael to play. As soon as Michael gets into the game it changes everyone's mentality on the game. Michael ends up leading a comeback and his team wins the game. The ends up finding the girl he likes, but that is where the story ends.
