There were three princesses of the kingdom Amaryllis, born to King Basil and Queen Lorraine: Lorelei, Lucia, and Laura. King Basil was demanding and hot-tempered. Queen Lorraine was arrogant and romantic. Lorelei took after her mother except she cared more about her reputation. She was sixteen and already looking for a husband even though legally, she was too young to get married. Fourteen-year-old Lucia was kind, generous, and popular among the kingdom. She volunteered at soup kitchens and donated to charities. Queen Lorraine called her a disgrace for hanging out with peasants, but the whole kingdom believed that she deserved to become queen in the future. As for Laura, no one knew her age or what she was good at, because she kept out of the public eye.One day, Laura disappeared. King Basil was the first to notice, and he was infuriated. He put up flyers across the whole kingdom, but no one had seen the princess. One day, a shepherd came and claimed he'd spotted a fiery red dragon swooping around, shooting fire into the sky. King Basil declared that this dragon must have kidnapped Laura, and he asked everyone in the kingdom to rescue her. Thousands of knights pestered the shepherd for the dragon's whereabouts and, in the case of a middle-aged man with an accent, where-ablauts. The man who said "ablaut" tracked the dragon down to the ruins of an ancient obsidian castle. Everyone proclaimed that it looked evil and that this must be where Laura was being held hostage. Knights poured in by the hundred, hoping to win the mysterious princess's hand in marriage. Every single one of them fled in terror before they'd even seen the dragon. The castle was haunted, they said. They claimed the house moved under your feet, the walls strangled you, the ceiling rose and fell in odd intervals.

Every day, more knights volunteered. Every day, more knights ran screaming back home to their villages. No progress was being made, and King Basil was growing restless."Someone must rescue our darling Laura soon, or she'll be dead!" He proclaimed to the entire kingdom at a speech. But still, no progress was made. One day, Lucia had had enough of letting her little sister be tortured. She crept into the armory one night and disguised herself as a silver knight with a curved dagger shaped like a crescent moon. She was about to exit when she saw her big sister, Lorelei, leaning against the doorway."Where to, little sis?" She drawled. Lucia went pale."What are you doing here?" She demanded."What are you doing here?" Lorelei replied. "Answer me, and I'll answer you.""I'm about to rescue Laura! If none of those stupid, cowardly, so-called 'knights' will do it, I will! I can't just let our little sister suffer! Well? Why are you here, you selfish... person?"As you can see, Lucia is not the best at insulting people. You really can't blame her, especially when it's her own sister."Oh, I was just getting a drink of water," Lorelei replied sarcastically. "No, seriously, I'm going there too.""To rescue Laura?" Lucia's spirits lifted."No, to meet some knights. My engagement, Prince Ford, is a murderer!""A soldier," Lucia corrected, before realizing what her sister meant. "They're the same thing, aren't they?""So you understand me." Lorelei paused. "Let's go there together. Then it'll be double the chances of saving Laura."The sisters marched off into the midnight together.
They reached the obsidian castle a few hours later, huffing and puffing. The screams of knights filled the air around them. They ignored them, and stepped inside. They immediately came into a long, winding hallway that zigzagged under their feet.
