- Imagine if you will: A Cookie!

- You and your friend each want the cookie, but there is only one.

- In a moment of pure genius and generosity, you split the cookie into two equal pieces.

- The amount of cookie has not changed. Together, the two pieces still make one whole cookie.

- Each piece is only part of the whole cookie. You and your friend each get half, or 1/2, of a cookie.
