Storyboard Text

  • Glida: 1
  • Normal: there are no virus particles
  • CIN 1: there are a few infectious virus particles
  • CIN 2: there are a lot more virus particles
  • CIN 3: The particles take up all of the cell
  • When HPV infects a cell it normally stays inside as a separate circular DNA molecule, producing more viruses without merging with human DNA.
  • Cancer: The infectious virus particles are over-flowing.
  • Glida: 2
  • Normal HPV Infection: Pretend HPV is a borrowed library book. The virus "borrows" the cell's machinery to copy itself, but when the book is due, it gets returned leaving no lasting trace.
  • HPV DNA Integration: In some cases, instead of borrowing the book, HPV rips out a few pages and puts them into your DNA. Now those pages stay forever, which could lead to cancer.
  • Glida: 3
  • HPV Prevention
  • Scientists have developed vaccines that works if given before exposure to the virus. There are other ways to prevent HPV which are by practicing safe hygiene and safe sex, regular medical check-ups, and boosting the immune system with a healthy lifestyle.
