  • The woods were bathed in October sunshine, and the autumn air was thick with the strong, enticing aroma of moist, leaf-covered ground. Inside, a man sadly smiled as he exited the bathroom cabinet, entered his mountain camp's basic living area, and crossed to a closet built into the pine wall.
  • Climax
  • His smile was unattractive as he stared at the shelf on which the liquor was stored. Except for one quart of Bourbon, which was spilled and less than half way full.
  • Falling Action
  • Here, Maleb caught Judson putting a tablet into the liquor. "Are you drinking something at 10 o'clock in the morning?" "You're mistaken, my dear," he grinned, "I'm not taking anything out of this bottle; I'm only putting something into it." As he began to uncork the whiskey, his closed hand opened, and he dropped two tiny white tablets .
  • Conclusion

  • Judson's head hit the table as he reached for his boots. A chipmunk, hearing Judson's heavy tread, left the acorn it was about to add to its store within the cabin wall and disappeared. Judson stepped upon that acorn and fell on his head.
  • Judson Webb fell from the porch of his house and was knocked out for a minute. Alec's strong arm was supporting his head, and a kindly voice was saying, It wasn't much of a fall, Mr. Webb. Here, take this. It'll pull you together.
