- Prisoners of war campsOver 400,000 soldiers were held prisoner of war during the civil war. Stalag IX-B was the worst war camp, next to the camp there was a cematary with 1430 soldiers.
- African American SoldiersBy the end of the civil war, roughly 179,000 black men served in the army and another 19,000 served in the navy. Nearly 40,000 black soldiers died over the course of the war 30,000 of those 40,000 died cause of disease.
