- Ross tries to soothe Lady Macduff, as she thinks Macduff is a traitor because he has fled his land.
- Ross can stay no longer, and he leaves the room. Lady Macduff is left alone with her son
- She explains to her son why she thinks his father is a traitor. The son has a very mature point of view in the conversation and is not convinced
- A messenger arrives and tells Lady Macduff to leave with her son, as something harmful approaches
- Right after the messenger leaves, the murderers enter, looking for Macduff to kill him.
- Lady Macduff´s son gets killed by the murderers, and she runs away crying. The murderers follow her.
