- We need to go west.
- I'm getting very sick but I have no food or water to keep me healthy
- I'm starving and I need my husband to make it through this journey.
- I have no room for my clothes
- Most of the pioneer women traveled west because they were following their husbands but the single women traveled west because they were seeking homesteads, husbands, and other opportunities.
- One of their many hardships was that they didn't have much food to eat so that led to many deaths.
- We can do anything!
- Another hardship was their wagon space. They had very limited space so they could not bring their belongings.
- When they arrived in the west they found husbands, new homes, new jobs, and some even had children.
- One of their legacies was that the hardship of travel brought out many strengths that women didn't know they had.
- Another great legacy was that they established schools, churches, and libraries.
