  • The First Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from 12 of the 13 British colonies that became the United States.
  • The Treaty of Paris (1783)
  •  The morning of the 19th, the "Shot Heard Round the World." The colonial militia, a band of 500 men, were outnumbered and initially forced to retreat. Lexington, Massachusetts the first shots were fired just after dawn which lead to the creation of the USA
  • A New Constitution (1787)
  • The second continental congress voted to declare independence from Britain Thomas Jefferson was the main author of the declaration of Independence- The document reflected the enlightenment ideas of John Locke that if a government fails, people have a right to overthrow them, The declaration of independence was then adopted on July 4, 1776
  • American revolution 1775-1783
  • The Treaty of Paris ended the Revolutionary War between Great Britain and the United States, recognized American independence, and established borders for the new nation.
  • The Constitution of the United States established America's national government and fundamental laws and guaranteed certain basic rights for its citizens. It was signed on September 17, 1787, by delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
  • The American Revolution also called the U.S. War of Independence was the insurrection fought between 1775 and 1783 through which 13 of Great Britain's North American colonies threw off British rule to establish the sovereign United States of America, founded with the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
