  • Imperialism
  • Imperialism is a country that extends its power or militarism, to take more land. Colonies helped benefit the mother country by producing raw materials, which the country needed. The colonies sent things like sugar and grain to the mother country. Imperialism led to conflict because of Britain and France. These two countries expanded their empire which made tension between most European countries. This is the I, which is included in MAIN.
  • Nationalism
  • Nationalism is a nation that puts their interest towards one nation, for example an alliance. Nationalism led to conflict because each nation wanted to compete for power over the European Countries. Which meant each of the European countries wanted to compete for eachothers power. European leaders felt the right to compete over the lands and people. All this tension created in Europe, began to make WW1 begin. What also struck the war was the assaninastion of archduke ferdinand.
  • MAIN
  • The abbreviation MAIN stands for Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism. The Word MAIN should remind you of how WORLD WAR ONE began.
