Demander aux élèves de choisir une citation ou une scène préférée du livre leur permet d'exprimer les parties de l'histoire qui ont résonné avec eux à un niveau personnel. De cette façon, les élèves établissent une connexion texte-à-soi qui démontre leur compréhension des personnages et de leur développement ou des thèmes du roman. Les élèves peuvent ensuite partager leurs storyboards et avoir une brève discussion sur ce que les citations signifient pour eux.

- FAVORITE QUOTE from A NIGHT DIVIDED
- Gerta doesn't trust Officer Muller for good reason. He threatened her just for looking at the Berlin Wall and he also uncovered her and Fritz's secret tunnel and nearly turned them in. However, in the end, Officer Muller sacrifices himself to save Gerta. He tries to get his wife and baby to freedom in the West but tragically doesn't make it there himself, paying the ultimate price. It demonstrates how the repressive regime of East Germany turned neighbors and friends against one another. It further shows one's capacity to change for good.
