  • California has more reports of human trafficking than any other state. In 2018, the state saw 1,656 reports. Major cities are generally hot spots for human trafficking.
  • Anyone can be a victim of human trafficking. Females are most at risk, making up over 70% of all victims.
  • Human trafficking is the act of using force, fraud, or coercion to  force people into labor or to sexually exploit them. It is modern day slavery.
  • In the United States, the luring of victims through social media is becoming more common
  • The Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) aims to protect victims and to prevent instances of human trafficking.
