- The Southwest has more Native Americans than any other region. Many live on reservations and follow the traditional culture and way of life. The largest tribe in the Southwest is the Navajo (Diné).

- The food in the Southwest is often very spicy. Some of the favorites are chili, tacos, nachos, tamales, and flan.

- It's the Alamo! I've always wanted to see it.

- Long ago, Texas gained freedom from Mexico. One of the battles took place at the Alamo, which is now a symbol of freedom in Texas. Mexican and Spanish culture is still very alive in the Southwest.
