- President Keith, who was just elected, is at the white house. His new home! Eckels is very happy he won because he wanted him to.
- "He took a few steps, blinking, shuffling."Not that way!" "Like a stone idol, like a mountain avalanche, Tyrannosaurus fell."
- Once Eckels and everyone else returns home they notice the changes. The signs have a different language and the president election had a different outcome. Instead of Keith it is Duetcher. Everything is the opposite of what Eckels wants.
