- During the Renaissance, many artists started to break away from religious themes and many of them started to question the role of religion in everyday life.
- It started in Italy and famous artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael influenced both art as well as popular beliefs.
- Writers, such as Shakespeare, started to use vernacular to appeal to more audiences.
