Marcia and Judson Webb are preparing to return to the city from their cabin during the fall when Judson notices that someone has stolen some of his liquor.
Judson remembers his hunting boots drying on the table out front, and he goes to fetch them. However, he trips over an acorn and passes out.
Judson regains consciousness, yet he is dazed as Alec the caretaker makes sure he is alright. Without thinking, he takes the offer of a glass of whiskey from him.
