- Although Susan Carol is an Olympic swimmer, I found irony in the fact that she also is a writer for athletes. I think this is ironic, because for the first time the roles are reversed between a famous athlete and a writer.
- When Susan was a little girl she was pigeon toed and was coerced to swim the butterfly. This is a good flash back because it was a big impact in her life for swimming since it was very hard. Now she is a successful butterfly swimmer going to the Olympics.
- Susan has to decide whether to turn J.P Scott into the authorities and possibly lose a lot of money. Or take the risk and try to get first place and become famous. This is a big internal conflict because she has to make a very hard decision that will affect her future.
