The Life Of A Wood Frog!

Hi my name is alani and I'm a student at West Aurora High School. Today I'm going to talk about the wood frog and how it dies then comes back to life and how interesting it is about a wood frog.

I'm the wood frog and I'm going to take over and tell you why I die and come back to life and how I do it. I have the ability to produce antifreeze and I can survive at temperatures low as 3'F and then comes winter and I prepared! I produce urine and store it in my blood and sugar to survive and pull through.

That's right wood frog! At first the ice crystals start to get on the frogs skin. Then this is when the incredible transformation starts, the water from the frogs blood starts to freeze, then the ice starts to get the water out from the frogs cells as shown in the example. Then the frogs liver begins to make large amounts of glucose the sugar gets mixed in with urine and blood and makes it homemade antifreeze to still survive!
The wood frog can survive freezing solid for months by entering a state of nothing because its organs and metabolic activity nearly cease including heart and lung function. After being frozen all spring, its cells rehydrate and within 30 minutes its heart restarts and blood begins to flow again bringing the frog back to life and resuming his normal activities and seeking food and a mate.
