- Montag visits Faber's home. Montag takes a suitcase full of Faber's old clothes to get rid of his scent. He also tells Faber how to purge Montag's scent. Montag then tells Faber he will visit his printer friends.
- Mildred and her friends call the fire department on Montag. Beatty forces Montag to burn down his own house, but after Montag burns Beatty with his flamethrower. The mechanical hound attacks Montag and injects him in the leg with an anesthetic before he manages to destroy it.
- I'll kill you Beatty!
- Montag hears sirens while her runs down the alley, but he falls and begins to cry. The anesthetic made his leg weak and left him unable to run. Montag hears his Seashell radio in his ear and hears a police alert warning people to be on the lookout for him.
- "... watch for a man running ... watch for the running man .. watch for a man alone, on foot ... watch ..."
- Montag escaped the mechanical hound by making it into the river. He throws his old clothes and they drift away.
- Montag finds the group of men Faber was talking about. He joins them. Each person in the group memorizes books. Back in the city, a scapegoat is killed in place for Montag.
- Montag washes his face to not look suspicious. He starts to cross a street and is nearly hit by a car. This angers Montag as he remembers how Clarisse died.
- Watch where you're going!
- GAS STATION
- Get rid of my scent. I'll go visit the printer people.
- Take the suitcase full of my old clothes.
- FIND HIM!!!
- All right, you can come out now!
