Hawk Ratcliff Fever 1793

Öykü Açıklama

Fever 1793 is a book about Mattie’s life during yellow fever and how she faced her struggles. My favorite scene from this story is when Mattie had spoken like an adult to the people who had to bury Grandfather. Robbers had broken into the coffeehouse and ended up violently beating up Grandfather. This causes Grandfather to pass away. Mattie spent a night with Grandfather’s body. She woke up to a raspy voice saying to bring out your dead. Mattie got Grandfather into the cart and helped the man push him to the burial site. The people tried to throw Grandfather in the grave like he was worthless. Mattie told them to stop and give him a prayer. They ignored her and she shoved a man burying her Grandfather and she argued with him. The person with the death cart gave her a Psalms book and they gave him a proper prayer. This scene is important because it shows Mattie will do anything to show respect for her family. It also shows that Mattie cares for Grandfather.
