  • In 1968 however, riots began to emerge everywhere because of the death of Martin Luther King, a civil rights activist, and pastor.However Gonzaga is spared due to the work that we did to help the less fortunate.
  • Fun fact: Sheehy Theater is the oldest continually operating theater in Washington DC!
  • In 1896 Sheehy Theater is opened which is home to hundreds of student led projects and has hosted musical icons such as John Philip Sousa and Kate Smith!
  • After a couple other events occur in Gonzaga's History, including the opening of the playing field, The Father McKenna Center is opened.The McKenna Center is located underneath St. Aloysius Church and helps get the less fortunate food.
  • In 1912, Dooley Hall was opened!
  • Dooley Hall "incorporated the old facade of the theater, so that the two buildings looked like one.
  • Throughout the 1920's to 1950's many events occured.
  • Gonzaga has its 100th anniversary in 1921 and celebrates at Warden Park Inn The Gonzaga Football Team have the best football season yet in 1926 going 6-0 and having no one score on them. From 1942-1945, 611 Gonzaga students went to serve in World War II. In 1942, Joe Kozik also known as "The Coach" starts his 50 year career at Gozaga being a coach for various sports as well as a teacher of various subjects. Gabe Smith, the first African American student at Gonzaga, graduates in 1954.
  • Our school has hectic history full of changes and events but there is one thing that hasn't. That is being a man for others and causing a good change in your community in any way you can.
