Transcription begins when RNA polymerase binds with the promoter. The DNA is then split in half so that the bases can be identified. This takes place in the nucleus.
Transcription is how RNA is made from DNA
Initiation occurs as the double helix is separated by RNA polymerase. RNA polymerase then reads the template strand in order to copy the genes and make a compatible mRNA strand.
During this time, a Uracil and Adenine bind as well. Then elongation happens as the mRNA sequence elongates as RNA polymerase moves along the DNA
The RNA polymerase will eventually come to a stopping point and the copy mRNA will be complete.
The DNA then winds back together and leaves the messenger RNA
This is where translation begins. Translation is basically how protein is made from RNA. mRNA then binds to ribosomes which is where translation will take place. The ribosomes must identify each base of the mRNA and be sure that each codon is correectly matched with the tRNA.
Ribosomal RNA is responsible for much of the function and structure of ribosomes.
tRNA then brings amino acids to the ribosomes and begins to link together to for polypeptide chains.
Each tRNA contains and anticodon that corresponds with the mRNA condons so that they match up.
Translation comes to an end when a stop codon in the mRNA signals for the ending of protein synthesis. The polypeptide chain is then cut off and the new protein is made.
