Jesus chose to hold The Last Supper with His 12 closest friends the night before He died. Jesus offered to wash the apostles' feet at this meal. Additionally, He identified Himself as the Passover Lamb. Later, Jesus instituted the Eucharist. Jesus explicitly stated that He was distributing His body and blood to His followers. Many of His disciples would have wanted to think it was a symbol, but it was all Him. His followers sincerely believe that is Jesus' body and blood.
