- The Storming of the Bastille
- We shall protect our king and our people .we do this because this is for our country .We shall let you intruders past!.
- The year was 1788 and France was suffering from years of overspending and bad harvests and involvement in various wars. The Third Estate was not happy with the increase in taxes or the current voting practices, and the deputies were deadlocked over voting policies. 
- The National Assembly was forced to move to a nearby tennis court in order to continue the discussion and feared the King may dismiss them. They would pledge to save France from her ruin in the now famous “Tennis Court Oath,”
- On July 14th, 1789, rumors were spreading that royal troops may occupy the capital. A crowd of Parisians were worried and started to demand gunpowder and weapons from the Bastille, a medieval fortress, which was used as a prison. More than 800 Parisians wanted to defend themselves from the king and his people. The commander of the Bastille would not give in and finally opened fire, killing many people.
