- Hello! My name is Olaudah Equiano.
- I was born around 1745 in the Kingdom of Benin, known now as Nigeria. I died at age 52 in 1797, in Great Britian.
- At age 11, I was kidnapped and stolen into slavery. I was purchased by a Royal Navy lieutenant in the Virginia colony.
- After changing owners several times and going back to Great Britain, I bought my own freedom in 1765. I then began a career in distilling water and began to write.
- Some of my works include "Sold As A Slave", and "Equiano's Travels."
- And that's my story!
