CAUSES Because Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia, who was allied with Serbia, thought that they must help their allied leading Russia to declare war on Austria Hungary, making Germany declare war on russia. During the war the Russian economy was failing. There was low food and fewer jobs. Workers are demanding more pay plus the soldiers are running out of war supplies and food. To make matters worse the czar has poor leadership skills and won't help his people until the war is over.
