- The Great Seljuk Empire, often known as the Seljuk Empire, was a Sunni Muslim empire in high medieval Turko-Persia. The Seljuk Turks were thirsty for power and land. Almost everyday, they were deciding which kingdoms to invade and conquer. Always making the Byzantine Empire feel vulnerable. Then they decided to invade them.
- When the Byzantine Empire heard the news they were scared. They had run to Pope Urban ll. Finally Pope Urban decided to help them with their crusade. The pope had told everyone that crusades were holy. So people joined thinking that they would get into heaven for free. They were able to recruit 30,000 people.

- The crusade was good for the Christians. They had conquered Jerusalem. They also made 4 kingdoms in the former Muslim territories. The Byzantines were ready to fight. The Turks were finally on their way towards the Byzantine Empire.
- Pope Urban ll called for another crusade. It was a great defeat for the Muslims. But things went downhill. Germany´s crusade army was defeated. So were the French crusade army in Jerusalem. Soon later the second crusade ended.
- HEY! What about a truce then... EHHH?!
- Multiple years later, most of Muslim lands become under rule. Meanwhile the English King was battling Jerusalem. His name was King Richard#160; The Lionheart. The two leaders had come to a truce. this ended the third crusade
- Later, the fights were unorganized movements by peasants. Rather than military efforts. Like, in 1212 thousands of kids marched towards the holy land. it is now known as the children ´ s crusade. Barely anyone makes it there though.
