- After the murder of Starr's friend Khalil, she is encouraged to testify before a grand jury in order to seek justice for her friend.
- Shortly after the killing of Khalil, Starr gives a statement to the police. After Ms. Ofrah tells Starr that 115 will not be prosecuted, she can not stay silent anymore. She agrees to testify before a jury and participate in an interview on live TV where she calls out both King and 115.
- "115 killed Khalil..."
- Starr testifies before a grand jury, bringing to light the truth of what happened the night Khalil died
- As expected, officer 115 was not prosecuted and Starr decides to speak at a protest. When tear gas canisters start getting thrown, Starr and her friends hide in the family store. Due to King being angry that Starr mentioned him in the interview, he throws a Molotov cocktail into the store and it burns down. Neighbors report the incident and King, he is later arrested.

- At the end of the story, The Carter family moves out of Garden Heights to a safer area closer to the kids' school. Starr promises to Khalil to stand up for what is right.
