- The theme for Monsters are due on Maple Street is fear and suspicion can be destructive.The first piece of evidence is in the written copy on page 82 Charlie was faced with a tough choice to make. There was a black figure approaching them and out of fear Charlie had no hesitation and shot the figure killing it just to find out it was Pete van horn. This is an example of fear because when the figure was approaching him he didn't know what to do but shoot the gun which killing Pete van horn and destroyed his life.Another piece of evidence that supports my claim is on page 83 when charlie tried to blame a boy named Tommy and accused him of being an alien. after Charlie had shot Pete van horn he was making excuses on why he had shot him claiming that he didn't know who he was and to take the suspicion off of him. he accused Tommy of being an alien out of fear. This also supports my claim because charlie was scared of being accused or having suspicion that out of fear he blamed Tommy and nearly destroyed all trust the fellow residents had in him. My last piece of evidence is after charlie had blamed Tommy and almost everyone became afraid of him, after that they all started blaming each other of being aliens and a fight broke out, they used rocks, their hand, and even guns to fight each other just because they where scared and suspicious . This shows that after Charlie had blamed Tommy it became a chain reaction and and everyone started blaming each other out of fear and suspicion which lead to the destruction of maple street. to conclude the theme of Monsters are Due on Maple Street is fear and suspicion can be destructive. after every one became scared and suspicion everything went south and they all lost their senses and went strait to fight. leading to the extinction of Maple Street and its residents.
