Dr. John Snow started his investigation by a map of Soho, he marked down all the households where people had died, he then marked down the water pumps and looked for patterns.Dr. John Snow noticed how the deaths were close to the water pumps. Upon enquiring , he found that the deceased had drank from the water pump soon before their passing.
Dr. John Snow, a doctor in London, believed Cholera was spread by water, not air. So he decided to investigate.
Dr. Snow convinced the council that the water from the Broad Street pump was infected, so the handle was taken away. But by then the outbreak was already dying away.
In those days, toilet waste fell into a pit under your house, called a cesspool. When it was full, you paid people to empty it. The cholera outbreak started with a baby girl that was infected with cholera from elsewhere, her mother had dropped the baby's waste into the cesspool. The bacteria from the cesspool leaked into the well under the Broad Street pump.
