Fear and Suspicion are destructive because on pg.676 people get suspicious of Les Goodman they start crowding his house. This shows that fear and suspicion is destructive because the residents are putting Les Goodman and his family in danger. Fear and suspicion are destructive because on pg.679 Charlie sees a dark figure approaching his house, he gets scared and shoots the dark figure and that dark figure was Pete Van Horn. This shows that fear and suspicion are destructive because Charlie shot Pete Van Horn out of fear. Fear and Suspicion are destructive because on pg.683 all the residents go crazy and start blaming people. This shows that Fear and suspicion are destructive because they started yelling and blaming each other out of fear and suspicion and caused destruction among the residents of maple street. In conclusion, one of the main themes in "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" by Rod Serling is fear and suspicion are destructive.
