- She kept watching him even when she was through cutting the onions and she kept on watching until it was no longer possible for her to see him, because then he was no longer an annoyance in her life but an imaginary dot on the horizon of the sea.
- The old man was found on the beach by people, he was in horrible conditions. The people took him as a hostage and treated him like an animal, this shows that they saw him as nothing but dirt. Their treatment towards him caused his conditions to worsen until a girl with a spider body took all the attention and they basically abandoned the old man. The old man slowly recovered and then at the end flew away.
- His wings represent that he is an angel of the lord. The neighbor that knew all about angels told the family that had the angel that he was trying to take the little boy who was very sick.
- The message behind this story is showing that religion is not all that it is cut to be. Just because you say you are a Christian does not mean anything, you can still be a horrible person, just because you say it does not mean that you act like it. This is how the townsfolk acted with the old man, they saw him as nothing but an animal and treated him like dirt. Despite this the angel chose to just fly away in the end instead of seeking revenge on those who did him wrong.
