Bryce Lee King Fever 1793

Fever 1793 is a book about a girl named Maddie who survived the yellow fever epidemic. My favorite scene in Fever 1793 was when the robbers tried to rob the coffee house. Maddie and her grandfather had just returned from Bush Hill. They found out the coffee house had been robbed. They were trying to survive off of what was in the coffee house and what was in the garden. Maddie worked very hard and then made a bed in the front room of a coffee house. Robbers came through the windows and started snooping through Grandfather and Maddie's stuff. Maddie tried to hide, but she got scared and screamed. Then the robbers grabbed Maddie, and Grandfather came downstairs with a gun and started shooting at the robbers. He missed, so Mattie grabbed the sword and started swinging away. She hit a robber in the shoulder and chased him away. When she got back, she checked on Grandfather, and he was dying. The scene is important to the story because Maddie is now alone, with no one to care for her. She will have to figure out how to survive on her own.
