- we are reintroduced to the narrator at the end of the story. the narrator explains that you don't need bombs or bio-weapons to destroy humans but you can leave it up to their thoughts and mistrusts to do it. once the narrator is done explaining this the story

- we are introduced to the meteor that causes them all of their troubles . we are also introduced to some of the main characters.

- This is where Goodman car is randomly turned on. This is also where the rest of the neighbor hood has no power or way of electric/gas transportation. this is also where they start turning against each other at the smallest amount of proof that one of them is a traitor.
- exposition
- at this point in the story everyone is on edge due to the multiple random occurrences of the power going on and off at random times and places. the people are pushed over the edge when they see a shadowed figure in the distance walking towards them. Steve decides to see what the figure is before using the shotgun that was handed to him but charlie does not trust it so he takes things in to his own hands.the figure falls from his feet to his knees to the ground falling face first. they figre out the figure was oete and accuse charlie of murdering him on purpose
- the neighbor hood falls into war everyone blaming everyone they think is blamable. they start to bring children into their people to blame as well as starting to rip what little trust they had appart. we also are introduced to two figures in the darkness that explain that you only need to take away power and make a few random occurances to rip humans apart.
- the narrator explains the situation and the dimensions including the explanation about the twilight and how it is the middle ground between light and dark as well as it being the fith dimansion
