Hi! Today I am going to talk about how I imagine the meeting between Jacques Cartier and the Mi'kmaq.

Jacques Cartier travelled waters and found new land that he think he can rule.
So I know that I can not rule this land with people that are already living here so I will leave and find new land.

Two Mi'kmaq people find Jacques on the creators land. The Mi'kmaq people ask him questions but they do not understand each other.
Next time you come make sure to bring things to trade.
The Mi'kmaq went back to their house and went to show Jacques how they live and how it is not new land so they should share.
This is our home that we built from nature.
The Mi'kmaq showed Jacques more of their home. Then Jacques knew that he could not clam other people's land. He is going to do more traveling to find new land in a different direction.
Although Jacques and the Mi'kmaq had troubles understanding each other, they found a way. Years later Jacques came back and they traded lots.
