King James I of Scotland became king of England. Although the Catholics were looking for a king who would protected them, King James the 1 had other plans .He prosecuted and belittled Catholics and forced them to attend the English church.
15 Catholics had had enough and wanted to start a revolution and kill the king on the opening day of Parliament.
We are going to blow up the Parliament on the 5th of November. Gido, you are going to execute it.
A mysterious letter arrived at Lord Monteagle's house. The letter warned him of the plot to kill the king and other members of Parilament. This troubled him as he was a Parliament member himself.
The plotters were hung, drawn and quartered in public to warn all others not to try and kill the king or to start a revolution.

On the 5th of November 1605, Gido (Guy) Fawkes was found and aressted in a cellar under Westminster Palace along with thirty-five barrels of Gunpowder.
