In July of 1948 President Truman issues the Executive Order 9981. This order exclaims that there is to be no more segregation in the armed forces. A part of this is the Cold War was going on and ending segregation guaranteed more soldiers for war.
From this day on  there is no more segregation in the armed forces...
In 1949 in response of the Cold War and the Soviets, the organization still used today known as NATO was created. NATO was created to protect everyone from the Soviets or communists taking over the whole world.
We need protection, we're all going to join NATO
Why are we here?
In response of the fear of communism spreading, the US was "protecting" Vietnam from communism by starting a violent, unnecessary war.
I have a dream...
While the war was going on in Vietnam, everyone was protesting all sorts of different civil rights from education to the war, and to segregation. In 1967 Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I have a dream" speech expressing his protest.
As the year progressed the protests for civil rights got more intense, on April 4th, sadly MLK was assassinated.
Martin Luther King Jr. is dead!!!!!
Following MLK's assassination, Lyndon B Johnson passed the civil acts right stating that no matter race, sex, gender, standing, anything you were allowed to own and buy land and housing.
I'm passing the Civil Rights Act of 1968.
