4.5 billion years ago. That's were scientists believe it all began. 4.5 billion years ago, that's were Earth's existence is believed to have began.
The early atmosphere was made out of; carbon dioxide, little to no oxygen, nitrogen, water vapour, along with miniature proportions of other gasses. Formed by the gasses given out by volcanoes. It is believed that there was intense volcanic activity for the first billion years of the Earth's existence.
When the earth cooled down the water vapour condensed, forming oceans.
Next, plants and algae started to build up in the oceans, carbon dioxide levels decreased because the plants were in the process of photosynthesis. Plants release oxygen into the atmosphere.
After all of this, animals finally began to evolve from the plants and algae, due to oxygen as a present asit was being released by the plants. The animals then released carbon dioxide for the plants so they can continue photosynthesizing. Thankfully, especially for Australia later in life, ozone levels caused most of the uv rays to be blocked out.
Today the Earth's atmosphere is mainly nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, argon, methane and water vapour. Our planet is still undergoing major issues caused by climate change. Harmful greenhouse gasses are becoming more common to around the world and it is hurting the planet. WE MUST DO SOMETHING NOW! BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!
