  • In this comic, we find George sitting on the couch watching the ballerinas on television. We can see George's mental handicap radio in his ear, which sends out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains.
  • As George and his wife Hazel began watching television together, the piercing buzzer sounded in George's ears, causing all his thoughts to flee from his head.
  • Suddenly, the television program was interrupted for a news bulletin, where it was then announced that Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen, had just escaped from jail, where he was held on suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government. He was under-handicapped and considered "extremely dangerous."
  • One of the most beautiful ballerinas then took over reading the bulletin, her handicap bags being as big as those worn by two-hundred pound men, this being because of her strength and gracefulness compared to the other dancers.
  • Within a matter of seconds, real life Harrison appeared and not soon after, he began breaking and smashing all of his handicaps, then stripping the musicians and dancers of theirs too, giving them the ability to show their true talents.
  • When Kurt Vonnegut was making these absurd or ridiculous scenes, his point about society or human nature was that humans should be able to show their true abilities, without making others feel bad that they may not have the same advantages. We should be proud of the gifts that God has gifted to us, not having to hide them away.
