- 1. Yes, I can certainly elaborate. The Progressives made petitions to have an issue debated in public by state legislatures. They did this by a ballot initiative, which was the first established at the time. This ballot initiative allowed citizens to brain storm new laws.
- 2. The Progressive legislators addressed safe working conditions after the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.
- 3. Like mentioned before, the Progressives wanted to address minimum age and maximum hours children can work. They did this through child labor laws.
- 4. The Progressives also wanted to help those who were killed or injured during work. They had workers compensation to help address this issue.
- 5. Lastly,the progressives wanted to end monopolistic control of water, sewer, and urban transportation. In order to do this communities purchased the utilities and kept them.
