The Revolutionary War lasted from 1775 to 1783. There were many factors that led up to it, but the biggest cause was the unfairness that the colonists were treated with. The war went back and forth, but at the end, the colonists defeated Britain. They showed that the new United States could defend themselves from world superpowers.

George Washington was the first U.S. president and the general of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He led the colonists to many victories over the British, and as president, he kept the country neutral. In his Farewell Address, he advised the people and future leaders to stay neutral.

The Constitution was written on September 17th, 1787 in Philadelphia. Main authors included James Madison and Benjamin Franklin. It included fundamental rights, governmental structure, and stability in the U.S.
