The sharks lives in the ocean with many fish. These sharks have smaller and sharper teeth and the fish are a lot smaller, making it easy for sharks to eat well.
Adaptation
Over time, the sharks have a booming population. With this overpopulated ocean, there's not enough food to supply all the sharks.
DIfferential Survival
All of a sudden, there was a change to the ocean. The fish evolved, making it harder for sharks to hunt the fish. These fish became bigger in size (making the small teeth useless) and limited (again, not having enough food for the sharks).
Differential Reproduction
Because of this change in the fish, sharks has also adapted to it too. There are sharks now with bigger teeth to help with preying on and eating bigger fish without any struggle.
Now that the big teeth helps with eating the bigger fish, it also means that the sharks with this trait has a better chance of survival since they are able to get more food than the smaller teeth sharks.
The sharks with the bigger teeth has a lot more food than the smaller teeth, making the bigger teeth reproduce more than the smaller teeth, while the smaller teeth dies out due to lack of food. Now most of the surviving sharks have bigger teeth.
