- The Crusaders begin traveling through Hungary and Bulgaria. They had no idea how long their journey was going to be to reach Jerusalem.
- Most of the pilgrims believed that God would help them on their journey by sending down manna from heaven.
- However, the people of Hungary and Bulgaria didn't understand their language and weren't very nice to them. They wouldn't give the Crusaders food or shelter.
- Then some brave Crusaders decided to steal food and flocks from the citizens.
- They even destroyed villages and killed many people. But the Bulgarians fought back and overpowered the Crusaders.
- Hundreds of Crusaders died and many women and children were captured and sold as slaves.
