- The british soldiers get off a ship in new York which caused the Americans to face against multiple British troops. Washington lost 20% of his soldiers, which led to British taking over New Yok.
- Battle of Brandywine
- Washington traveled through the snow and sleet to get back at the British who was unaware of his plans and went on Christmas break. only 2,400 patriots made it across the river on time.
- Saratoga
- George Washington knew that he had to take big risk in order to win the battle. He had tricked British into thinking they were fighting the next day, but in reality the Patriot's were marching to Trenton.
- Summary
- Philadelphia was the patriot capital, and when the Patriots lost Philadelphia, they panicked. They had just lost their government, lowering the chances of winning a war.
- For the first battle of Saratoga, the continental army had to pull back, making the British the winner. But then, for the second battle British got tired of waiting around and fired the first shots. The Patriots fired back, killing the British army. Their win caused the French to join army's with each other to fight the rest of the war.
- At first, America was getting beat by Britain. But once we got the the battle of Trenton, George took charge. We got a moral booster and gained determination to continue to the war. Later, we would go on and win another battle, then lose. Losing helped Britain get to Philadelphia but when the fight of Saratoga happened, things changed
