- Ulrich and Georg both want their men to arrive first, hoping their side will help the other. This competition for honorable attention marks the start of their changing relationship.

- Neighbor, do as you please if your men come first. But If my men are the first to come, you shall be the first to be helped, as though you were my guest. We have quarreled like devils all our lives over this stupid strip of forest, I've come to realize that we've been fools. Neighbor, if you will help me to bury the old quarrel, I will ask you to be my friend.
- No one living can remember seeing a Znaeym and a Von Gradwitz talking to one another in friendship. If we chose to make peace, there would be no interlopers from outside. - The two men realize their long feud was pointless. Ulrich asks Georg to help bury the generational fight. Georg accepts the idea as they agree to put aside their differences and work together.

- Wolves?! Now's not the time to play games with me! Whose men are they?
- Wolves!!! We have to act fast, or they’ll be on us before our men even get here!
- And what do you suggest, Ulrich? We can’t move! They’ll tear us apart before help arrives!
- Let me see what I can do.
- Ulrich warned Georg about the approaching wolves, urging quick action. Trapped under the heavy tree, Georg panicked, realizing they were defenseless and in immediate danger without help.
