My granny(Racheal) and papa(Bill) lived in Ireland.
Although this is before they were born Ireland had some trouble in the 1950s. the Irish economy continued to grow smaller and smaller. 16% of their population left.
I miss my friends
It's OK you'll make new friends and you'll see them one day.
They moved from Ireland to New Zealand on the 6th of January 1971.
Hi Granny, Hi Papa. We love you!
They came to Australia from New Zealand on the 24th. February 1986. they come because of family and work
The hardest part about the journey for them was leaving their friends and family behind. “ In those days it took quite a while to get a letter and as there were no mobile phones and phone calls were very expensive you usually waited for birthdays and Christmas to phone home.”
Now everything has changed again with the coronavirus. My Grandparents are healthy and safe. We call them on the phone every week. I talk with them as much as I can. They have a very positive attitude towards it and hope to see us as soon as posable.
